Camp 2009 was condensed into 3 full days in July. Students learned about macroinvertebrates, and other aquatic organisms that indicate a healthy stream. They also participated in discussions about what a watershed really is and how it functions. Lots of hiking, swimming, and fun! 2009 camp was sponsored by NFWA and the Jefferson County Conservation District.

Volunteer work on the splash dam

Completed

Above is a pic from stream shocking performed on Manners Run on September 8th, 2008.

This method of fish assessment, performed by PA Fish Commission Personnel, and assisted by NFWA Members,

shocks the fish in a small portion of the stream, stunning them long enough to record their size, species, etc.
